Britain Seen from the North
The artist is a specialist in a field he defines for himself. His field is a mixture of objectivity, irrationality and subjectivity. In inventing a denser, more complex vocabulary, the artist contributes to an understanding of the world. He is simply a very small fragment of the universe. Torn between himself and his images, he is a grain of organic material in a universe where man cannot grasp his own insignificance... He can observe the universe, and knows the value of an intellect which can reflect upon its own existence.
In fact it is a cellebration of life, which I think, is his main contribution.
